How does it know how far to turn a page?
It finds the angle at which the lines of text line up most sharply, up to 8° either way. Pages tilted less than a third of a degree are left as they are.
Does the quality drop?
No. The page is turned as it is, without being redrawn, so text and pictures stay exactly as sharp as before.
