Word to PDF: questions and answers

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is converted by code running in your own browser tab. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any server, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.

How close is the PDF to what I see in Word?

Text formatting, paragraph spacing, lists, tables, pictures, charts, page size, margins, headers and footers are reproduced. Fonts are matched to the closest standard PDF font (sans-serif, serif or monospace), so line breaks can differ slightly. Text boxes with exact positions and drawing shapes are simplified.

Can I convert old .doc files?

Open them in Word or LibreOffice and save them as .docx first.

Which languages are supported?

Latin-script languages, Greek, Russian and other Cyrillic, Vietnamese, Thai, and Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia, with correct joined letters. The fonts download only when a document needs them. Emoji and Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic text show as "?"; the result note tells you how many.
