Terms of use

Last updated: 5 November 2026. These terms are written in English; if they are translated, the English version applies.

The service

EgretPDF is run by Ankita (see the imprint). It provides free tools that work on PDF and office files inside your web browser. You may use them for personal and commercial work. No account is needed. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.

Your files and your responsibility

Your files stay on your device and remain yours; we never receive them. You are responsible for having the right to open and change the documents you work on, for the content of what you create, and for keeping copies of your originals. Only remove passwords or restrictions from documents you are entitled to change.

Signatures

Whether a signature is legally valid for a particular purpose depends on the law that applies and on the people you send the document to. Some documents (for example certain contracts, wills or official forms) need a qualified signature, a witness or a handwritten signature. If in doubt, ask a lawyer.

Redaction

Redact PDF turns redacted pages into images and removes the hidden text, metadata, bookmarks and attachments that often repeat it. It can only remove what you mark. Always check the result before you share it, for example by searching it for the words you removed. You are responsible for what you disclose.

No warranty

The tools are free and provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to make them accurate, but results such as OCR text, conversions, compression, repairs and summaries can be imperfect, and the site may be unavailable at times. Check important documents before you rely on them.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Ankita is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business, arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intent or gross negligence, and nothing affects the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to break the law or infringe anyone's rights, do not attempt to disrupt it or overload it with automated requests, and do not copy the site to pass it off as your own or to mislead people.

Software and trademarks

The EgretPDF name, logo and site design belong to Ankita. The site is built on open-source software and fonts, used under their own licences; see open-source licences.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of India. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and may bring a claim there.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date above shows when they last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
