Excel to PDF: questions and answers

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is converted by code running in your own browser tab. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any server, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.

Which sheets are converted?

Every visible sheet with content, in workbook order, each starting on a new page. Hidden sheets are left out, as when Excel prints.

Are formulas calculated?

The PDF shows the values the file was last saved with, exactly as Excel displays them. Charts and pictures (PNG and JPEG) are drawn where they sit on the sheet; other shapes are left out, and the result note says how many.

Why do .xls and .csv files look plainer?

Their cell formatting cannot be read in the browser, so they keep their values, column widths and merged cells with simple gridlines. Save as .xlsx to keep colours and borders.
